Welcome to Class 1

This is the homepage of wonderful Class 1. We are taught by Mrs Hall (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and then Miss. Hassell and Mrs.Carvell on a Friday.

Miss. Hassell, our wonderful teaching assistant comes to work with us every morning too.

Click on the links to see our class newsletters for lots of information.

This year we will be working extremely hard, but we have lots of fun too! We have some fantastic texts to share with the children this year and some exciting things to learn about. We will endeavour to put as much information as possible on here, but we will share most of our information through our seesaw app.

Please see our timetable below.  The classroom door opens at 8.45 and learning activites start at that time...the door shuts at 8.55 ready for registration.  The timetable does change over the course of the year but for the first half term PE will be on a Monday and Thursday and in the second half term PE will be on Monday and Tuesday.  However, we ask for indoor and outdoor PE kits to be in for the full half term, thank you.

READING

We ask you read with your child five times per week, including reading to your child so they are exposed to a wider vocabulary, which they are unable to yet access without being read to.  Please record your child's reading in their yellow reading record, which will be checked once per week and as they hit various targets they will achieve different Ninja statuses...the children love this celebration of their reading!  Reading is key to progression and I cannot stress enough how valuable it is to support your child with their reading...if you have any questions about it please do come and speak to me and I am more than happy to help.

Lots of our work is cross curricular. We teach subjects like art, geography, history and science together with our numeracy and literacy. Therefore some of our topic work will also be completed during the morning sessions.
