Class 02 Mrs Hall 2021 - 2022
Mrs Hall
Welcome to Class 2
This is the homepage of wonderful Class 2. We are taught by Mrs Hall (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and then Miss. Hassell and Mrs.Watson on a Friday.
Miss. Hassell, Miss. Langford and Mrs. Watson are our wonderful teaching assistants who come to work with us every morning too.
Click on the links to see our class newsletters for lots of information.
This year we will be working extremely hard, but we have lots of fun too! We have some fantastic texts to share with the children this year and some exciting things to learn about. We will endeavour to put as much information as possible on here, but we will share most of our information through our seesaw app.
The classroom door opens at 8.45am which is when the children start Early Bird Maths activities consolidating the arithmetic they have learned in class. The door shuts at 8.55am ready for registration.
The timetable does change over the course of the year and we keep parents updated with these changes. Please send your child in their PE kits all day. Trainers are essential as they will be out at play and it could be wet.
Mon 6th September to Friday 5th November PE will be on Mondays and Fridays
Maths and Literacy are taught in the mornings. In the afternoon we teach our core subjects of Science and PE as well as the foundation subjects including Art, Engineering, Geography, History, Computing, Music and Spanish. On Tuesdays we are lucky enough to have a slot in the computing suite which is always a real highlight!

READING
We ask you read with your child five times per week, including reading to your child so they are exposed to a wider vocabulary, which they are unable to yet access without being read to. Please record your child's reading in their yellow reading record, which will be checked once per week and as they hit various targets they will achieve different Ninja statuses...the children love this celebration of their reading! Reading is key to progression and I cannot stress enough how valuable it is to support your child with their reading...if you have any questions about it please do come and speak to me and I am more than happy to help.
NUMERACY
The Quinta Primary School subscribe to Numbots which focuses on arithmetic and fluency. The children love this app where they have an avatar, which they add to as they move up through the levels. Login details for Numbots have remained the same as in reception.
PHONICS
Phonics is taught each day and I will soon send home a phonics keyring for you to use with your child at home. We have bought a new phonics and reading scheme called Read, write, inc which we are very excited about. We will be sending further information about this in due course, as we get it up and running .
HOMEWORK
In summary, each week the children will be set reading homework. My suggestion is read each day, it can just be a short session - quality over quantity! Please speak to me if you have any issues and we can come up with solutions together.
